EU Benchmark Clinical Research
Challenge: Attracting clinical studies is crucial for maintaining the quality and innovative nature of the Dutch Life Sciences & Health (LSH) ecosystem and healthcare system. Clinical studies provide a constant influx of new knowledge into the system and offer opportunities for Dutch patients to access the latest treatments. Moreover, clinical studies hold significant economic value through direct investments from study sponsors and the potential establishment of offices to conduct studies and other activities in the Netherlands.
Objective: The goal of this project is to gain insight into the landscape of clinical studies in the Netherlands and to compare it with other European countries. The benchmark will provide an overview of the studies conducted in the Netherlands and how they compare to those in other European countries. It will look at aspects such as the number of studies in different phases, the number of participants, common indications, and the timelines for clinical research. This information will be used to identify areas where the Netherlands excels internationally and to learn from other countries.
