Shaping the potential of a national ATMP network
Challenge
Although ATMPs hold transformative potential, the path from development to patient access is filled with uncertainties. Previous analyses have identified challenges, including unclear regulatory requirements and a fragmented landscape of developers, authorities, healthcare providers, and other key players. A 2023 ZonMw-commissioned report offered a comprehensive overview of the Dutch ATMP landscape, highlighting major hurdles and proposing solutions. Key recommendations included forming a national ATMP network to centralize knowledge sharing, encourage collaboration, and streamline efforts across stakeholders in the Netherlands.
Project goals
On Tuesday, June 11, 2024 the RSNN SIG Advanced Therapies, in collaboration with FAST, hosted a workshop and networking to assess the interest and need for a national ATMP network in the Netherlands. The event aimed to capture insights in a meeting report, focusing discussions on the potential objectives, activities, key stakeholders, and organizational structure for the network. With a multistakeholder approach, the event was designed to build broad support within the Dutch ATMP sector for the recommendations developed during the workshop.
Project status
A meeting report that describes the learnings and recommendations regarding a national ATMP network will be published and shared in late 2024.
Executing party
The project is led by the RSNN, specifically through its Special Interest Group (SIG) for Advanced Therapies. The RSNN SIG acts as an intermediary in the Dutch regulatory landscape among patients, healthcare professionals, developers, regulators, and policymakers to address ATMP challenges.
