Sandra Heskamp has been appointed chair of NUCMED-NL, the national platform that brings together stakeholders from across the entire targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) chain. In this role, she will be dedicated to advancing NUCMED-NL’s mission: strengthening collaboration between research, production, clinical application, and patient care, so that innovative nuclear therapies become available to patients more quickly, affordably, and sustainably. In addition, the platform works to connect initiatives, remove barriers within the ecosystem, and accelerate innovation in nuclear medicine.

Sandra Heskamp is a professor of Nuclear Imaging and Therapy in Immuno-oncology at Radboudumc. She studied Biomedical Sciences at Radboud University, earned her Ph.D. in 2014 with a dissertation on molecular imaging in cancer, and subsequently established a leading research program in the field of nuclear imaging and radionuclide therapy. Her research focuses on the development of new radiopharmaceuticals for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, with a particular emphasis on immuno-oncology.

With her scientific expertise, collaborative skills, and years of experience in developing innovative radionuclide therapies, Sandra Heskamp is ideally positioned to further shape NUCMED-NL’s ambitions and strengthen the Netherlands’ position as an international leader in nuclear medicine.
