FAST kicks off development ATMP-NL
FAST kicks off development ATMP-NL
Based on the joint workshop between RSNN SIG Advanced Therapies and FAST, which explored the need for a national network for advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) in the Netherlands, FAST is now taking an important step forward. Following the insights from this meeting, FAST is taking the initiative to develop a national hub for ATMPs: ATMP-NL. This will build a solid foundation for cooperation, knowledge sharing and alignment within the Dutch ATMP landscape.
ATMP-NL is an initiative for and with the field. It focuses on strengthening and connecting existing initiatives, networks and organisations. The aim is to set up a sustainable, jointly supported platform that brings together stakeholders, from academic and industrial developers to healthcare institutions, patient organisations and policymakers. With the aim of promoting the innovation, development, availability and affordability of ATMPs in the Netherlands.
From idea to realisation
In the coming months, FAST, in collaboration with consultancy firm Inovigate, will work with a steering committee consisting of Frank Luyten, Markwin Velders, Lourens Bloem, Trudy Straetemans and Tom Oostrom to develop a sustainable model and a supported concept and implementation plan for ATMP-NL. This will build on existing knowledge and initiatives, and focus on co-creation with the field. This process consists of four phases:
Phase I – Analysis
In this phase, existing reports and analyses are analysed and the international context is explored. Then, through focus groups, the needs and perspectives of Dutch stakeholders are collected to jointly determine what the hub should focus on.
Phase II – Design
Based on the insights gathered, a first draft of the ATMP-NL model is prepared. This includes proposals for structure, governance, funding and cooperation. During an initial roundtable meeting, the concept is shared and validated to realise broad support within the field.
Phase III – Build
In this phase, a concrete implementation plan is developed, including a roadmap with short-term, mid-term and long-term objectives, roles and responsibilities. A second roundtable meeting serves to discuss and fine-tune the plan, aiming for a joint commitment on implementation.
Phase IV – Implementation
After delivery of the plan, implementation of ATMP-NL starts.
The creation of ATMP-NL requires active representation of relevant parties within the ATMP field. FAST is therefore involving researchers, developers, healthcare professionals, policymakers and patient representatives in this process. Focus groups and roundtable meetings will start soon. Regular updates will be shared via FAST.nl. During the FAST event on 4 November, an afternoon session will be dedicated to ATMP developments.
