Future Affordable Sustainable Therapies (FAST) is een nationaal platform voor duurzame therapieontwikkeling waarbij betaalbaarheid en innovatie hand in hand gaan. Onze integrale aanpak kenmerkt zich onder andere door het signaleren en adresseren van knelpunten en kansen in de ontwikkelketen. Hiervoor heeft FAST de Troubleshooting desk ontwikkeld.

We streven ernaar duurzame therapieontwikkeling te bevorderen door de gehele keten (fundamenteel onderzoek, translationeel onderzoek, bedrijfsmatige ontwikkeling, klinische toetsing, evaluatie na markttoelating).  Om zicht te krijgen op de knelpunten die worden ervaren heeft FAST de Troubleshooting desk ontwikkeld. FAST gebruikt de Troubleshooting desk om de knelpunten op het gebied van life sciences en health te signaleren die een belemmering vormen voor therapieontwikkeling en een negatief effect hebben op het innovatief vermogen van Nederland en de maatschappelijk aanvaardbare kosten van therapieën.

Oproep om knelpunten en oplossingen te delen
Ons doel is het identificeren en groeperen van knelpunten die therapieontwikkeling in Nederland (onnodig) bemoeilijken en daardoor een efficiënte ontwikkeling van drug discovery, klinisch onderzoek tot markttoegang in de weg staan. Wij roepen daarom iedereen op om knelpunten en mogelijke oplossingen te delen via de Troubleshooting desk. Door de knelpunten zichtbaar te maken en deelnemers de mogelijkheid te bieden om mogelijke oplossingen aan te dragen, van elkaar te leren en kennis te delen, willen we het proces stroomlijnen om innovatieve therapieën toegankelijk te maken voor patiënten.

Verdere ontwikkeling
De volgende stap is het analyseren van de knelpunten en het verwijzen naar bestaande oplossingen binnen het huidige life sciences domein. FAST wil met de Troubleshooting desk in de toekomst ook bijdragen aan het identificeren van ontbrekende of minder beschikbare oplossingen en initiatieven faciliteren om de gemelde problemen aan te pakken.

FAST pioniert met een integrale aanpak in nauwe samenwerking met beleidsmakers, financiers, (academische) kennisinstellingen en bedrijven op het gebied van innovatief ondernemerschap om nieuwe behandelingen zo snel mogelijk bij patiënten te krijgen tegen maatschappelijk aanvaardbare kosten.

FAST introduces Troubleshooting desk to identify bottlenecks and solutions

Future Affordable Sustainable Therapies (FAST) is a national platform for sustainable therapy development where affordability and innovation go hand in hand. Our integrated approach is characterized, among other things, by identifying and addressing bottlenecks and opportunities in the development chain. FAST has developed the Troubleshooting desk for this.

We strive to promote sustainable therapy development throughout the entire chain (basic research, translational research, business development, clinical testing, post-market evaluation). To gain insight into the bottlenecks that are experienced, FAST has developed the Troubleshooting desk. FAST uses the Troubleshooting desk to identify bottlenecks in the field of life sciences and health that hinder therapy development and have a negative effect on the innovative capacity of the Netherlands and the socially acceptable costs of therapies.

Call to share bottlenecks and solutions
Our aim is to identify and group bottlenecks that (unnecessarily) complicate therapy development in the Netherlands and thereby hinder the efficient development of drug discovery, clinical research and market access. We therefore call on everyone to share bottlenecks and possible solutions via the Troubleshooting desk. By making the bottlenecks visible and offering participants the opportunity to propose possible solutions, learn from each other and share knowledge, we want to streamline the process to make innovative therapies accessible to patients.

Further development
The next step is to analyze the bottlenecks and refer to existing solutions within the current life sciences domain. With the Troubleshooting desk, FAST also wants to contribute in the future to identifying missing or less available solutions and to facilitate initiatives to tackle the reported problems.

FAST is pioneering an integrated approach in close collaboration with policy makers, financiers, (academic) knowledge institutions and companies in the field of innovative entrepreneurship to get new treatments to patients as quickly as possible at socially acceptable costs.
